Football Outsiders - PhillyVoice editor says the Eagles are a dark horse in the Super Bowl
Put Football Outsiders author and editor-in-chief Aaron Schatz in your cart. Appearing on “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network on Tuesday morning, Schatz had made the Eagles like a dark horse to reach Super Bowl LVII. “I have a dark horse: the Philadelphia Eagles to come out of the NFC,” Schatz said. “I love the people who added this Offseason, Haason Reddick, James Bradberry, AJ Brown. I think Jalen Hurts could be good enough with all the talent around him. And they have the easiest Expected schedule in the league with our numbers.”
5 things to know about the safety of the new Eagles CJ Gardner-Johnson - BGN
The Saints have lost both of their starting secretariats this off-season, with Marcus Williams joining Baltimore Ravens In free agency, our mutual friend Malcolm Jenkins is suspended in retirement. Even with this, and knowing that CJ had been in the organization for the past few years, the Saints decided to bring in two external veterans as safety initially in Marcus Maye and Tyrann Mathieu rather than trust Garnder-Johnson to deal with either of them right away. On a full-time basis. Saints’ front desk has been above average in crafting and developing defenses over the past decade. Marcus Williams, Marshawn Lattimore, Von Bell, CJ Gardner Johnson, BJ Williams, Paulson Adepo… Aside from Lattimore, who was the New Defensive Future of the Year, none of these players made the first round. If there’s one situation where I tend to give the Division of Saints’ Scouts the edge of the doubt, it’s with a defensive appearance. If the Saints didn’t see Gardner Johnson capable of being a full-time safe, it’s entirely possible that they were wrong, but the smart money says they aren’t. Basically, moving Gardner-Johnson to either of the two full-time safety modes feels like a situation where you could take your top 5 corners in the game and turn them into your top 15 solid safes. I don’t know how the rest of the Eagles are shaping up, so maybe this is a team improvement, but I definitely think his floor would be a lot lower if he moved to a safe place full time.
Eye on the Enemy #105: How the List of Eagles is now fortified by Jalen Hurts through Chauncey Gardner trade + their search for a third QB Radio - BGN

Eagles player review: RB Trey Sermon - PhillyVoice
Since Sermon doesn’t add a strength element that is clearly superior to the current vultures’ appearances, he likely won’t see much action early on. Sanders will be “the guy,” with Boston Scott backing him and Kenny Jenwell likely to get some nervous looks. I imagine the sermon will be inactive on the gameday while he learns to offend. If the Eagles suffered injuries while running backwards on the road (as they usually do), we can see the sermon at that time.
More List Works - Iggles Blitz
The sermon was played in Oklahoma and Ohio State while in college. I was expecting it as a third round pick, and that’s definitely where it went. For whatever reason, things didn’t go well for him in San Francisco. From the reading I did, it seems the coaches were frustrated with his technique. Instead of being critical and hitting the pit, he was looking for big plays. Engagement has a lot of potential to play, but SF coaches want the guys to be as like NS as possible. This description also happens to fit Miles Sanders. They’re nearly identical in size, so the Eagles must think Sermon is a player they’ll be able to get a good production out of. Sanders ran for 2,439 yards and averaged 5.1 ypc in his time with the Eagles. At 6-0, 215, he has a solid volume. The sermon is strong enough to break interferences and will take place powerfully. He’s not Jordan Howard, but he doesn’t get off at first contact.
Rob notes: Biggest concern heading into the season - NBCSP
7. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson may be ready to go in eight days, maybe he can learn to defend and adapt in a week and a half. But I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Eagles made Anthony Harris high on game day in Detroit and started him against Marcus Epps at a safe place and gave CJGJ more time to learn to defend and rest. A key player last year, Harris took over all the first-team reps this summer, and while he’s not been much of a playmaker, he knows defense and won’t spoil it. The Eagles can lift Harris up to three times if they need to, which could buy some time for Gardner-Johnson. Harris may become the first player in NFL history to be a fixture throughout the camp, be released, sign for the coaching staff, and then start the season opener. But it may be the best choice for vultures.
Howie Roseman has a message for fans as he previews the 2022 season - PE.com
“We know this,” Roseman said. “Anytime you get content, you get kicked. I don’t know we ever feel like we have a ‘good enough’ position. I feel like we are a better football team, and I feel like we are a better culture than the team that finished last year, which is a huge credit to the operations staff. Our football - the whole building because everyone plays a role - and to our staff training. It’s hard work. This doesn’t guarantee anything. This doesn’t guarantee any victories. “We have to keep looking for ways to improve.”

Washington Injury Updates: Cam Curl Reportedly Has a Thumb Injury That May Require Surgery - Hogs Haven
Camryn Curl in safety started Thursday’s training in street clothes and wears a sling/splint on his right arm. He hasn’t trained since Sunday when he left training with the coaches, and he wasn’t one of the few who got time to play against the Ravens in Washington’s last preseason game. Coach Ron Rivera was asked about Cam Curl’s injury status, but he veered and used the NFL’s injury reporting policy to avoid providing any kind of update. Teams do not have to submit players’ injury status during the season until match week. The captains’ first injury report for the season/opener home game will be published on Wednesday. Ben Standing from the Athletic reported the injury to Kam Curl’s thumb, and he may have needed surgery to fix it. No timetable has been set for his return to the field, and no date has been set for when the surgery will take place.
College Football Saturday: Giants manager Joe Schoen explores Ohio State against Notre Dame? - Big Blue View
All eyes will be on OSU’s offense as quarterback CJ Stroud pushes for possession of the “QB-1” spot on the draw boards. Given the questions regarding the future of the giants’ quarterback, it makes perfect sense that Schwinn would be in this game. Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba will also be looking to impress the NFL, building on his 2021 breakout performance to seal the top of the wide receiver depth chart.
