Tournaments first week of September

Even in the week of August 29 to September 4, there are always many golf events. We will be following the amateurs participating in international competitions and the blue pros on all tours, except for the main round: the PGA Tour, in fact, which has just finished the 2021-2022 season, has a two-week hiatus.

It will resume from September 15-18 with the first date of the new season: the Fortinet Championship.

Golf and events

Challenge Tour - B-NL Challenge Cup by Hulencourt
This week, September 1-4, the European Challenge Tour travels to Belgium for the B-NL Challenge Cup by Hulencourt.

Founded in 1988, Hulencourt Golf Club includes two golf courses: the Vallon Championship Course and the Verger (court and hitting). The Vallon course is one of the best garden-style courses in Belgium and is maintained to an exceptional standard throughout the year.

The championship course is spread over gently rolling terrain and offers ample fairways, but the numerous water obstacles and strategically positioned bunkers make the course challenging even for high-level golfers.

Hulencourt’s B-NL Challenge Cup will be the first event on the Challenge Tour Belgium after the 2019 KPMG Cup, which saw England’s Dale Whitnell win after defeating compatriot Laurie Kanter in a playoff at Millennium Golf Course.

The event, in its second edition, is supported by the Belgian Federation (KBGF) and the Dutch Federation (NGF). Held last year in the Netherlands, Spaniard Alfredo Garcia Heredia established himself (in a 4-man playoff) to take his first title of the Tour.

García Heredia will not be on the field because at the end of the 2021 season he was promoted to the DP World Tour (6th player on the way to Mallorca). There are only six events left before the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final, which concludes the season and the top 20 players in the world rankings will receive the DP World Tour 2023 card.

Germany’s Freddy Schutt, who has one win and 6 in the top 10, is currently in pole position, but there is still plenty of time to return to the top 20. The Blues on the field are: Matteo Manasero, Andrea Saracino, Lorenzo Scales, Aaron Zimmer, Jacopo Vicki Fossa, Gregorio de Leo, Enrico de Neto, Federico Macario, Eduardo Rafael Liparelli.

DP World Tour - Made in HimmerLand
The tournament, formerly known as Made in Denmark, will run from September 1-4 and will have a prize pool of €3 million. Born by order of Lars Larsen in 2014, it was done every year, except for 2020.

The title winner in 2019 and 2021 is Austrian Bernd Weisberger, who will not be on the field as he takes part in the LIV Golf Invitational Boston. At Himmerland Golf & Spa we will be able to see twin brothers Nikolai and Rasmus Hoggard, who are among the many Danish players looking for victory at home, along with European Cup captain Ryder Luke Donald.

Also among the favorites is England’s Matt Wallace, who arrived in Denmark despite failing to win his fifth Tour title (and first in nearly four years) at the Omega European Masters, full of confidence after his performance in the Swiss Alps. .

Last week, in fact, Wallace said he felt “come back,” the 32-year-old champ has managed to move past all three of his matches in Denmark and a combination of last week’s second-place finish and fond memories of that event, which he won in 2018, could have helped. Help him win the title again this year.

week. Finally, experts advise keeping track of last week’s stage winner: Thurston Lawrence. A win over the weekend on his debut at the Crans-sur-Sierre golf club allowed the South African to climb to ninth in the DP World Tour season standings.

The 25-year-old, who now ranks 87th in the world rankings, won his first Tour title in November, at the season opener, the Joburg Open, but he has shown strength and fortitude in his game that could be key to him. Success.

Another victory. There will be seven Italians in the race: Guido Migliozzi, Eduardo Molinari, Nino Bertasio, Francesco Laporta, Renato Baratore, Andrea Pavan and Lorenzo Gagli. We will be able to watch them carefully and cheer for them, September 1-4, on GOLFTV / DISCOVERY + and EUROSPORT, with comments from Alessandro Bellicini and Maurizio Trezzi on the following programmes: DATA GOLFTV - Discovery Plus EUROSPORT

LIV Golf - LIV Golf Invitational Boston
The fourth call of LIV Golf will take place from 2-4 September.
